Harbinger | 30"x40"

In old Javanese tales, a tiger that leaves its home for the village is a sign of catastrophe. This tiger awakens from slumber upon batik lung lungan, a motif rooted in the hope for a life that continuously grows. I was drawn to create this piece because of the many catastrophes that have happened in Indonesia, my home country, over the past few years. It is deeply concerning, but it also reminds me that we cannot stop hoping or working toward a better future.

This painting is my quiet prayer. A reminder that even in times of uncertainty, growth and resilience are still possible.

This is a mixed media painting. I used acrylic and cotton spun for the fabric to create a 3D texture.
