Did You See What I See #4 | 8"x8"

This series of four paintings invites us into a quiet act of humility: wondering how animals perceive the world. Each piece pairs an animal presence with a collage background made from batik fabric, a traditional Indonesian textile technique where wax is applied to cloth before dyeing, creating intricate patterns that resist and absorb color in layers. The artist chooses batik not merely for its visual richness but for what it represents, a textile woven from patience, repetition, and cultural memory.

The title poses a question that cannot be answered, only contemplated. How does a creature see the same ground we walk, the same sky we look up to? The animals here are not subjects to be understood but teachers to be learned from. They hold a way of seeing that humans have largely forgotten.
